Blue Streak Interior Design

Cookie cutter is boring.

Your home should reflect your personality and respect how you want to feel there.  Your place of business should align with the products or services you present.  Your spaces should be comfortable and the materials should balance quality and budget, with interesting details that reward close attention.

We might nudge you to the edge of your comfort zone.

Blue Streak brings enthusiasm, thoughtfulness and a discerning eye to your project.   You bring an appreciation for quality design.

About the designer:
Josepha Rood

I should have known when I chose bicentennial toile curtains from the JC Penney catalog for my bedroom at 8 years old that I wanted to be an interior designer… and later, when I should have been doing masters’ homework but instead I was shopping for cabinet pulls until 3am?  That should have been a clue.  But I studied History and Information Management, and I worked in IT for a long time.

Then a few years ago, we did an extensive interior and exterior remodel of our home; after nearly a year, I wasn’t ready for it to end, and that’s when I began to suspect full-time interior design was my calling.  I quit my job to try it out with an expert designer… and then I knew for sure.  So I started Blue Streak Interior Design and went back to school.

While that may sound like a zigzag of a career path, there is a through-line of helping people figure out what they want and need, bringing teams together, being conscientious about communication and delivering on promises.

And now I’m thrilled to help people imagine what can be - to feel truly connected and happy in their homes and businesses every day.

  • Residential and light commercial projects, especially vacation homes and short-term rentals - any project where I can develop a unique mix of materials, fixtures, patterns, textures and colors to express a client’s style.

  • I love so many things!  The blessing & curse of being a designer is feeling like you can make (almost) anything work.  But my own style tends toward clean lines with global influences:  Delft tiles from my Dutch heritage, Balinese wood carvings from an anniversary trip, moody colors of the Pacific Northwest and anything Italian.

  • Yes! I do have experience with remote work, and will consider it on a case-by-case basis.

  • Bali, Cambodia, Italy, Iceland, tropical islands, fabulous hotels, the sparkly sandals department, the High Line in NYC, anything Chihuly

  • Mom, wife, friend, dog person, cat person, Texas Longhorn, real estate voyeur. My love languages are cooking, baking and finding just the right gift. I love exploring a new city on foot, and I don’t mind seeing a movie or dining out alone. I love a quiet house early in the morning, when I can read and wake up slowly.
